El Degas LP Pickup Selector question.
El Degas LP Pickup Selector question.
So the selector on my newly aquired Les Paul copy is a little gummy and I've unscrewed the back to see if I can't fix things a bit. Something I noticed is that there seems to be only two settings: Bridge pickup and neck pickup. Unlike most Les Pauls, which have 3 settings (Bridge/Bridge-Neck/Neck), the El Degas only has 2. Is this how it's supposed to be or is my LP in need of some minor repairs here?
Re: El Degas LP Pickup Selector question.
Sounds strange - you should be able to have that replaced with a 3-way with no difficulty. The middle position may have just worn badly and the switch no longer comes to rest there.

Re: El Degas LP Pickup Selector question.
It is strange. I figured any guitar with two humbucker pickups should have 3 pickup settings. I'll take it over to the shop within the week and see what they can do. Thanks for confirming my suspicions.
Re: El Degas LP Pickup Selector question.
Yeah, my money is on it being a busted 3-way switch.

Re: El Degas LP Pickup Selector question.
Hi el Duke, yeah, you should have a mid position setting for sure on a LP setup. It's kind of odd, that it's failing in the middle. These things normally break in the outer positions and the toggle fails to remain on the neck or bridge, falling to rest in the middle. Is there any play (sloppiness) at all in the middle? Or is there even a "middle" rest position at all? It may be possible that somebody has accidentally previously replaced the original 3-way toggle with 2-way.
