El Degas 995 ts

Post by paul »

I am new to your forum and think this website is great. I used to play in bands in the 70's with my black el degas LP copy and it was a nice guitar. I still have an el degas 995 tobacco sunburst in mint condition bought at Steve's music store in Toronto back in 1982. It has some tarnishing on the gold plated parts, but other than that it is like new and still has the original warranty card from el degas. It came with a Gibson hardshell case. How rare is this model and approximately what would it be worth if I chose to sell it?

If you can post some photos or email some to me I can tell you more about the guitar and/or value.
If you have a photo of the headstock & logo that will be helpful.
I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

El Degas stable as of 03/2022: 42  (13 bass, 26 electric, 3 acoustic)

Welcome Paul.
Yes pictures please!
I'm also curious about that warranty card...what was the name/address of the guarantor please? I ask because we continuously run into a dead end when trying to track down any El Degas records. We know about B&J and the (relatively recent) Kaman Music connection, but I'm hoping that there might be possibly another clue on your card?
Thanks.

Oh geez, I guess I've never thought to look at the warranty card I have from the first El Degas I purchased, my Ric 4000 bass copy.
I'll scan and post a thread about it.

Anyway, back to the 995 - I am eager to see the photos [and heck I might just buy it]!

Thanks for the thread on the warranty card Charles. Nothing new eh? Oh well, it was worth a shot.
Paul, please take a look at that post and see if it's the same as yours: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=332

I'm still waiting for the pics of the 995 TS. I had a 995 WR (wine Red) That I posted considerably earlier and curious to see if it is the same except for the colour of course. I'm guessing it an archtop with F holes and 2 pick-ups?
My news is Blues!
