Model GL 31 circa 1974

Post by Ron Cairns »

I picked up my El Degas up in Labrador City back in 1974. It cost $175.00 new with case. I got it for $50.00. This person needed some quick cash and the guitar was only 4 months old. After 34 plus years it has such a rich sound. Couple of sctatches and dings, no damage or warps. Many who have played it always ask me if I want to sell it. I am a bass player and used this guitar in some of the sets we did.
The body seems to be all Mahogany and rose wood keyboard[/quote][/b]

Pics or it didn't happen! :P

What kind of body shape? LP Copy?

Awesome score.
I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

El Degas stable as of 03/2022: 42  (13 bass, 26 electric, 3 acoustic)

Hi Charles,
Good to hear from you. Sorry it is a acoustic model..
I will post pictures as I do not have access yet to "photobucket" I will set that up as I have picks in My Pictures folder.
I love your site and thank you for setting it up. I always found El Degas Guitars were so under rated. All the ones I have come across were well made and played great. I have a 1978 Fender pre bass, got it new back then. I had a chance to get a El Degas SG bass 3/4 scale copy a while back but passed it up. (kicking my ass)
Take care, will be back later.
