El Degas was a brand of guitars made in Japan and then later in Korea for Beugeleisen & Jacobsen in New York, NY for sale in Canada (later sold to Kaman Music). I have EXACTLY the same guitar!
how do i know where and when it was made?

El Degas guitars were made in several different factories throughout the 70's; add the fact that there is no serial numbering, and that equals nothing better than an educated guess on these. Specific dates of manufacture and other details are assumed at best.

well, I actually have 2 El Degas Les Pauls! the black one that looks like this one, is almost as heavy as my real Les Paul. The second one, it's cherry red, has "Made In Japan" on it and is a lot lighter!
