El Degas Acoustic Dreadnaught

Post by ecaxeman »

We have an El Degas Model GB23, acoustic, that my wife bought with her first paycheque, 42 years ago this month (Dec) Is there anyone out there who can tell me where I can get some info on this instrument? From the lable inside I know it was made in Romania, and the serial number, also there is a signature. Other than that I know nothing else.I would appreciate any info at all on it.Thanks

If you post a photo, it will be a big help for us to try to give you some info.

:)
I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

El Degas stable as of 03/2022: 42  (13 bass, 26 electric, 3 acoustic)

Hi ecaxeman. Welcome to the ED forum!
Yes, pictures would be very helpful. As you'll discover if you look around here, unfortunately there was very little consistency in the model numbering of the El Degas products which is why we always ask for pictures to be sure we know what we're talking about! :)

Meanwhile, here is the only other post I could find concerning your model number: http://www.eldegas.com/forum/viewtopic. ... hilit=gb23
That one appears to be copy of the Gibson 'Hummingbird' model. However, that member never did post a picture so we're not absolutely sure.

This might end up being another model number conundrum - the only Romanian made El Degas acoustics I've seen are the classical guitars... of course, if it's a MIR Hummingbird copy that will be a new one, too. :)
