Hi!
I'm new on this forum and have this little guitar to show you. I see there are no many SG-s around here so I hope this will fatten your database! It's basically SG MIJ guitar that came with the original case. Thats all I now. It's definitely old!

It could bi lower end El Degas but it sounds wonderful!!

Nice one.
It is one of the lower-end models with metallic-y plastic inlays but if it's like the one I had in that style, it's still a solid guitar. Glad you're enjoying it.

Not 100% sure. Common consensus on those is that they are from the 70's, not sure if that would be early, mid or late 70's...

...but 70's.

These are great little tone machines!
Coincidentally, I was in to talk to my local guitar shop guy last week, and the tech had one of these on the bench for a string change and spring tune up. When he was done he ripped off some licks to check out the settings. WOW, the sound was amazing!
We chatted quite a bit about ED's and other related stuff until the owner's head looked like it was about to explode! He was using it on loan from a buddy to mess around with and learn some chops. Great buddy, eh? The only thing I didn't like about it was the colour which seemed rather "muddy" looking and couldn't make up its mind whether to be brown or burgundy.
As to the age, maybe the pickups would offer a clue Charles? I believe the earlier models had DiMarzio's which would place it '70-'75'sh??

Well to be honest I'm not sure if the body is mahagony but the neck definitely is. I really love the sound and it feels great. I fell in love for SG line of guitars becasue of this little demon.
Maybe i will look what's under the hood in a week or two

Usually the higher end MIJ models had the Dimarzios; most of the bolt-ons did not (but some did... not all bolt on models were created equal, it would seem).

I think you'll find that it is mahogany. If you lift the pickups you should be able to confirm by looking at the cavity walls.

The guitar should be mahogany through-and-through.
Depending on the model, they sometimes had pancake bodies, and sometimes plywood; but the translucent-finished MIJ models are usually solid.

I used to remember what the color is called on these... I'll see if I can remember. It is brown, in any case.

(unless the one in the OP is a cherry finish, that is)

Where are you located? That looks like a European light switch & outlet.
If you are in fact overseas, I continue to be amazed by the travels some of these guitars have taken
