El Degas Les Paul Bass

Hey there...I just joined this forum because there aren't very many El Degas owners out there. This is a link to pics of my bass http://s1112.photobucket.com/albums/k496/DavidNewquist/ When I got it, it only had the pickups & pickguard with no other electronics. I put in a low impedance transformer & pots but the pickups buzzed like crazy. What I did was put Fender p-bass pickups side by side in the neck housing & a noiseless jazz in the bridge (all without their covers so they'd fit). I made the new pickguard matching the original holes & put in a volume for each pickup, a 3 way switch, a master tone with a .047 cap & a 6 way varitone. The bass sounds dead quiet & Awesome! She's got a couple of lacquer cracks on the front & a few dings, but the action is low & the neck is straight. She's currently strung with Hartke rounds & is a blast to play! David

Wow, that's a new one! Glad you've shared it.

I like the solution you came up with on the pickups & electronics. Much better than all that low-impedance gobbeldygook, in my opinion.

Beautiful! I've never seen an LP bass, of any kind before, especially with a varitone switch!
Great looking instrument.
