Looking for SG for friend

Call it a mid life crisis.

My friend bought a El Degas SG new in 1974, the one with the full pick guard. He sold it for $100.00 in 1978. He talks about it often and I would love to get him one as a gift! If anyone finds one please let me know!

I don't think an El Degas SG is going to turn up anytime soon but, hey, you never know. Keep scouring the online ads, then hope you get to it before one of us does.

In a pinch I could recommend an alternative:
Dillion makes a very good SG copy for reasonable $$$ You might want to check them out. A word of warning though, there is a battle of sorts between the American made version and the Canadian made version. The Canadian one is, of course, superior and made in Korea. Anything on eBay is likely American and not as well made.

Dillion Canada makes beautiful instruments at reasonable cost and might just turn out to be the El Degas of 2009!

The El Degas SG copies tend to come up almost as much as the Les Paul copies. Keep watching eBay, they do come up occasionally.

I've heard good things about the JSD Guitars Dillions. The owner of JSD is supposedly pretty particular about picking the pick of the litter for his Dillion stock, and he's also occasionally to be found on Harmony Central's Electric Guitar forum. Seems like a good guy to deal with.

Yeah, that's the impression I got from nosing around too. A good online Canadian resource to remember for when you get GAS* again. (The Guitar World in Mississauga & Milton Ontario also carry Dillion.)

The way the currency exchange has been going though I don't think it's as easy as it was 8 months ago to buy from a US eBay seller. I bought 2 guitars over the summer and it wasn't exactly cheap then, but manageable. Now the USPS rate has been jacked way up, and FedEx's brokerage charges will kill you!

At the top of every page should be a link that says "Profile" - check that you have email notification set under your profile ("Always notify me of replies").

To answer your question, yes you can be notified automatically when there is action in your posts. Be sure you're logged in, then go to the Profile link above and scroll down to Always notify me of replies: and check "yes".
