Hello everyone, I was very happy to see this website on El Degas guitars. I have been a big fan of them for some time and they made some excellent guitars over the years. I need some help identifying this recent purchase I made so please take a look and let me know if you have any idea what, where and when this might have been made. It is in great shape and has smoking hot Boss pick-ups! Also the finger board almost looks like ebony? Thanks for the terrific site!
Cheers - O2BGUITARN

That guitar shape is what we El Degas lovers usually refer to as being a copy of an Ibanez Artist (also often thought to be a sort=of copy of an Alembic).
Usually you see those in a transparent finish over bare wood to accentuate the 3-wood construction, like this:

... although I have also seen some of the bolt-ons use a single wood type and fake the look by selectively masking and finishing the "strips" in different finishes to replicate what you see in my photo. Since yours has an opaque finish, I would hazard a guess that it is constructed of a single type of wood.
These are usually MIJ (Made in Japan), I do not think I have seen any MIK (Made in Korea) models of this model... but of course with El Degas you never say never
Nice score!

Hi Charles, thanks for the reply. I couldnt resist this guitar at $60 cdn....a bargain! There is a wiring issue as it lookslike someone tried to put in a coil spit (origonal?) that only works in one position and then you get nothing when you flip to the other position...no big deal I will sort it out eventually. I was drawn to this one as I have not seen another like it. I have owned an early 70's Les Paul El Degas which I regret letting go and also have a nice SG as seen in the back ground of the photo. Love these guitars loads of fun to play and reasonable $ to collect. I will post a photo of the Les Paul if I can hunt one down. Once again great site and cheers for the info!

That's a very pretty color scheme.
I have not come across rubber'ed control knobs, I wonder if they were added to the guitar (not stock)?
