You can post photos in this thread and I'll do my best to try to give you some info. Photos that include the sound hole label and headstock are helpful.

Unfortunately I won't be able to give you too conclusive of an answer (though with El Degas we never really can anyways).

With that logo style and adjustable bridge I have a strong feeling this may be a MIK (Made in Korea) model, but I cannot be totally sure. Most likely from the late 70's, or possibly early 80's if it is MIK.

[EDIT: The comment about the adjustable bridge is incorrect, see my correction in my next posts]

What I do know for sure is it's a LOOKER. The J-200 copy is my favorite acoustic model.

I've seen that logo style on both MIJ & MIK.

I've only seen that adjustable bridge saddlepiece on MIK.

I'm going on the best-known info I have, but I may or may not be correct.

I was playing my GB-28 (J-200 copy in sunburst) last night and when I inspected the bridge closely I could see this one has had a bridge conversion done at some point (large adjustable saddlepiece removed, filled with a piece of wood and stained to match, and a new fixed saddlepiece put in)! I didn't even notice it before!

So, I guess the adjustable saddlepieces I've seen in MIK instruments must have also been in some MIJs? Unless something crazy happened like someone put in an adjustable saddlepiece and then changed their mind - very unlikely, but people did crazy things to their guitars in the 70s!

So, the jury's still out - the logo style and sound hole label are definitely different than mine (which states Made in Japan and has "J. Marchaund." stamped on the label - I assume this was either the QC person in North America, or an outgoing QC stamp from the factory? Another mystery.). Some signs still leave question as to whether it's MIJ or MIK. Many of the differences between my MIJ and yours are the same sort of "feel" that I saw in the differences between Barry's MIJ Dove copy and my MIK (which unfortunately I sold last week so I cannot do a full comparison ).

Those adjustable saddles are a puzzle alright. Mine has one, and I've seen at least one MIK ED come into the shop with one. I've always assumed they we an MIJ "innovation", but who knows?

You could be right there. Might have been created by the Japanese manufacturers?

Same guitar as the one on the way to me right now from Nova scotia...these are the pics he took of it...if you look in the sound hole, both serial numbers look like the number 2. I'll post more when I get it in a few days.

I saw that ad. I was thinking of going for that one. Lately I've only been into slotted head stocks. And ooo /parlor size guitars. I recognize the pic if the spud hole sticker.

How does it play? Is it boomy? What did you end up paying for it? Hat the shipping on an acoustic cross country these days? I know that an electric would me about $55.

I haven't recieved it yet....should be here on thurs nov 8th. I got it fot $225 plus $39 for shipping from Nova Scotia to Winnipeg by Purolator....The fella i bought it from owned it for 25 years and said it's it perfect condition....we'll see on thursday. I'll post pics when it arrives.
