Re: Possible Serial Number Interpretation
Hey Barry! I posted my GB24 some time ago on here (10+ years!) and still trying to track down when it was actually made. This was my fathers El Degas who has long passed. My mother remembers him having it at least a few years before they married in 1972 so she's thinking '69 or'70 he must have ...

Hummingbird 12 string GB24
Here's a Gibson Hummingbird (copy) 12 string GB24 from the 1970s. This is the one I learned on. My father got it sometime in the early 70s but not sure of the exact date. Recently restored, thoroughly cleaned, with a new tusq saddle and bone nut. I couldn’t find a 12 string tusq nut that would fit ...

Re: Looking for info on a 12-string GB24
Photos will definitely help - a nice clear shot of the guitar and ones of headstock and sound hole label if possible.
Unfortunately, the S/N system was never really used so it is not a help in determining the date/country of manufacture. BUT since it does have a S/N (not many do) it may be an ...

Re: New to me GB24
Finally tracked down a "graph tech Tusq" nut and saddle; anyone have experience with this brand? Hope it does what it claims to do for tone/volume...
Think I'll go without replacing the bridge pins..seems a bit pricey for what I think will be little results.

Re: New to me GB24
Honestly , it probably won't make that much of a difference. If it were me I'd still do it anyway and the nut for sure too.I also replace the plastic bridge pins with ebony ones on all my guitars.Every little bit will help to some degree.
Sounds good; I'll try to track these parts down..any idea ...

Re: New to me GB24
That's exactly why I got rid of the adjustable bridge and the plastic saddle on my edj200.How can the strings effciently transfer vibrations to the soundboard through a piece of plastic that sits in a pot metal slot of a plywood guitar ! Stupidest design gibson ever came up with.

Re: New to me GB24
Plastic vs. Bone: I can only see there being an audible difference with the saddle; does the nut really matter that much being so far away from the sound hole?

Re: New to me GB24
Barry; had to go with a new plastic
nut and saddle as bone or anything else is just too hard to track down in my area...yes, the old plastic saddle was severely string chewed.

Re: New to me GB24
Matt - Wow; this truly is an amazing find. I'm in the midst of tuning up/repairing this same guitar which was my Dad's and the one I learned on as a kid; still blows newer acoustics out of the water in sound/tone/volume. I'll post some pics so we can compare the two.. :D

Re: Looking for info on a 12-string GB24
I'll try to get some photos posted; it's the guitar I learned on at 12 so the info is more for sentimental reasons. Too bad about the s/n system, or lack thereof.
