SG copy - shot in the dark

Post by Richard1958 »

Hi all! New member here. My very first guitar when I was 14 (in 1974) was the El Degas SG. Loved it to pieces but just had to have this OTHER guitar so I traded it in. Big mistake. Been looking for it ever since.
One thing I did was use an old school label maker to put my name and address under the electronics cover,so if anyone happens to come across something like this...with a Massachusetts address, and you’re interested in selling...please contact me at Richard991958@gmail.com. Like the title says, huge shot in the dark, but figured I’d try.

It would be pretty amazing if you were able to reunite with the guitar, it's a long shot but you never know!
I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

El Degas stable as of 03/2022: 42  (13 bass, 26 electric, 3 acoustic)

What color was the SG, and was it a bolt-on neck model? It might help in case anyone out there has the particular model.

It had a bolt-on neck, was mahogany colored, had silver tuning heads and the pick guard extended to either side of the strings.

Thanks, Charles! I just saw the exact same one on eBay and the people that owned it checked the electronics cover, but no dice.
The search continues...

That particular model may be a bit more of a widespread one; I owned 2 or 3 of them years ago.

Don't give up :) I hope this has a happy ending for you!
