That's pretty interesting with the maple neck and black inlays.

Thanks for sharing that.
I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

El Degas stable as of 03/2022: 42  (13 bass, 26 electric, 3 acoustic)

Nice condition.
Was it Cort who was known for the black position markers? Can't remember off hand. (Frenchy will likely know.)
The knobs look like Stratocaster after market junk! Wonder if he still has the originals.

I've seen an Electra with that neck configuration before. Not sure who manufactured that.

You may be right Charles.
Have a look at this page from the Electra site, scroll down the page and you'll see an old ad with a player holding one above his head. Further down is the 1977 catalogue listing a model 2249 Super Rock Natural. If it's the same one it's either a Matsumoku or Fujigen.

I dunno Barry, the knobs and plastic bridge saddles look a lot like the original junk on my Raven LP :P

I had those kind of witch-hats on one of my ED LP copies (the black one I sold about a year ago if I recall correctly. They aren't so bad!

edit: yup, here they are - http://www.eldegas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7

That thing is a dead ringer for my Raven , same tuners and cheezy little headstock inlay. Was your ED solid body or laminate? Mine is laminate.

I can't remember if that one was solid or ply. Been too long. :(

OK guys, looks like you're right, they're orignals!
Couldn't really see them well in the ad pic but they're very obvious in mikedem's post. Thanks for that.
Anyway, the query was as to the manufacturer of the guitar. Any concensus on that?

I have never seen an El Degas that didn't have the inlay in the headstock but I'm a ED rookie  so maybe they did.

I very rarely come to consensus on anything when it comes to El Degas  because anything... could be anything!

You mentioned Fujigen & Matsumoku. My answer is.... yes! Well, maybe! Perhaps!
