Thanks.
It's a tough one - normally the nomenclature speaks to the brand being copied... MT=Martin; GB=Gibson; GL=Guild.
This has only the numerical model #, which makes me wonder if this was a copy of some other company or maybe not a copy but a somewhat original design the manufacturer was offering (not sure which one would have done this one for B&J / El Degas).

Unfortunately I can't really give any more info at this time.

Thank you for showing those photos and for the kind words!
The site will get even better - I am going to completely redo the rest of the site (other than the forum) and add as much info as I can.. just don't ask me when it'll be done! This hobby has to compete with lots of other hobbies for my time! :P

I have an El Degas model F-218 acoustic guitar, purchased in June 27, 1975. Purchase price at that time was $225 US, from Dean Markley Music, in Santa Clara CA. It's a nice sounding guitar.

Strange that the OP's 218 has no F- prefix... :? :?:

I sort of stumbled into acquiring an F-218 years ago. It was my first guitar, and is still pretty much my baby:) had it autographed by the tremendously talented (and SUPER nice) Graham Greer, who fronted Barstool Prophets (1 independent album deflowered, 2 label ones crank and last of the big game hunters). Live shows were epic and legendary, but the band disbanded in 99 I think. Graham went on to do 2 solo albums (Palookaville under the name moonlight Graham, and a self titled album) check 'em out, and here's a few pics of the baby:)....just as soon as I figure out how to upload them:)

Hi barstoolprophet and welcome.

I recommend you look at this thread for photo tips http://www.eldegas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=45 (let me know if you need help) and start a new thread to post your guitar (if you post them here I will split your post out into a new thread, so no worries either way).

Two notes:
- barstoolprophet's F-218 now lives at its own thread: http://www.eldegas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1838
- we know nowadays that the F- models are early Martin copies (I don't think I mentioned that elsewhere in this thread)
