Hi Patte, and welcome.

Ukuleles are not my thing I'm afraid, and I'm not sure you'll find much information in the forums on them either. El Degas was a 'white label' brand and did not actually manufacture anything, and the instruments tended to vary in quality depending on when and where they were made.

That said, many of the guitars and basses were beautifully made and on par with the big names of the time. It's hard to tell from the ad but it looks to be a well made instrument using good quality mahogany wood. As for the asking price...who knows? It sounds high to me but again, I know next to nothing about ukes! Sorry I can't be of better help to you.

Please post pictures of it when you get it so we can all learn something new!

I will definitely post some pictures if I decide to go ahead and buy the uke.

Hard to say - I balked at that price, but if it's worth $125 to you then it's worth it. I liked the all-mahogany look.
If she sounds nice and you are OK with the price than my advice would be to go for it and don;t look back.

About two weeks ago, I tried to convince my wife that since she played a uke when she was a kid, I should buy her the El Degas Uke in the OP... she laughed and said no, at least not for $125 plus whatever shipping I'd have to entice the seller with if they would even agree to ship it to me

But really, what the hell would I do with an ED Ukelele? Better that PatteBlanche get it and give it more play than I would.

I fumble around enough with a regular 6-string guitar already

Thanks for your (funny) comments. After talking to my wife, I might just save the money and invest in a CF Martin uke for my 50th birthday. I am famous for complaining about my toys and tools. With a Martin, I won't have any excuse not practicing enough.

Best of luck - I think you'd probably be happy with either, but a nice little Martin will be a good'un too. The incentive to practice is always good
