Seeking LP Neck

The good news:
I've located a 70's El Degas LP!
The Bad News
It doesn't have a neck!
The Good News
It can be had cheap!
The Bad News
Can't seem to find a replacement LP style neck of any make.
I've scoured Craigslist, Kijiji and eBay until
I now need a new neck.
I need another guitar like a hole in the head but I'd hate to pass on picking this up. Trouble is, if I can't find a matching neck (for reasonable $$$) there's not much point.
Any suggestions/ideas out there?

Yes I did Charles, thanks. All they have are neck "blanks" and I don't think my whittling skills are up to the task!
There are any number of places selling Strat and Tele necks out there, but LP's are really hard to find, and try to find a Canadian source!!
I did manage to locate a decent looking one (in Texas!):
http://www.guitarpartsusa.com/cat--Guit ... ts--MAIN10
and another (in California!):
http://www.aampselectricguitarstore.com ... _neck.html
Still, it's a crap shoot as to whether or not it'll fit right, be as good as the original (not likely), plus the exchange, shipping, etc
What are the chances of finding an El Degas LP neck, ya think?
Exactly.

Hey Barry:
Is that that red one that's out in Oshawa? HAHA. I thought about picking that up too but I figure the neck would be impossible to find.
Good luck in your search.

You are correct grasshopper...and wise not to pick it up at this point.
I'm having no damn luck at all finding a suitable neck (except for the one that peckjed is selling in the buy and sell El Degas forum here---if it only had the logo still on it!)
BTW: I did have an email conversation with the owner, a very nice lady. Apparently, somebody stepped on the neck 15 years ago (ouch!)...but they didn't keep the broken neck, which could likely have been fixed (damn).
She's an El Degas fan, and get this, plays an El Degas banjo! I told her about this forum. Perhaps she'll visit?

Slightly funny story about El Degas banjo...
I had the opportunity over the past few years to watch and meet a great musical artist from Alberta by the name of Cara Luft. Whenever I catch one of her shows we get to have a little chat.
Well, last time I saw her perform in Calgary I was surprised to see her whip out an El Degas banjo for her last number. I chatted to her at the end of the show and told her I have umpteen many El Degas instruments and am an avid fan of many of them...
...she wasn't as convinced as me - the banjo had action that almost required an impact hammer to play and was not a very good all-round instrument, but she of course made it sound pretty good. I just laughed and said - yup, there def. are some lemons out there, and slinked back to my chair
So when I come across El Degas banjos in my travels (not too often) I remind myself of that conversation and how I have no idea how to play a banjo and stay clear. I'm sure there are some good ones out there, but I'm not the guy to go find them!
