I'm not sure if Douglas is just a brand carried through Rondo like SX (which is a MIC brand from a Spanish company) or one they order directly.
UPS Standard/Ground's brokerage fee is the scourge of Canadian buyers of gear everywhere!Barry wrote:What Charles said.
My experience is about the same, and not with large items either. Even envelope size items take ages to arrive.
And the flip side to the faster shipping by UPS is that %^*#*@ "brokerage fee"!! Just when you think you've budgeted for everything, surprise! 'What can Brown do for you?' indeed!
Customs delays can be a real killer at this time of year and I'd bet a commercial shipment marked "musical instrument" gets more attention and delay than a gift marked "xmas gifts". I'm just speculating.mikedem wrote:I think it's USPS screw up. I received parcels from Relatives in Washington DC in 3 days last week. I guess when you pay $68 US for shipping you would expect a little more. At work we routinely order parts overnight from the states via FEDEX and I guarantee the bosses aren't paying that kind of shipping cost .
At least Dave at GFS is somewhat regular in his email correspondence.
True that! I have learned in my *ahem* advanced years, that if you`re gonna collect guitars you`d better know how to fix èm or ya go real broke real fast paying someone else to do the work!I can see where someone who doesn't do their own work on their guitars would probably have to budget @ $100 to get a mail order guitar setup properly at the local shop
The rest of you keep snapping them up , leave some for the rest of us!Barry wrote:Well, it ain't no El Degas but you seem to be enjoying it!I can see where someone who doesn't do their own work on their guitars would probably have to budget @ $100 to get a mail order guitar setup properly at the local shop
