GL32 Acoustic

Post by Jaydeus »

Its nice to find a site dedicated to my guitar's brand! I knew nothing of my instrument's origin except from what I was told.
I have a sunburst acoustic model no. GL32. It was a Christmas present from my neighbors about 15 years ago. Being my first instrument, I hold it dear to my heart. Although I didn't take the best care of it early on(I was 11 when I got it), it still plays and sounds beautiful. My neighbors came from California to Nashville in the mid-70s to try their hand at the country-gospel scene. They played many places around here, and most notably at the Grand Ole Opry. They had many shows and gigs with some pretty famous artists, and one of those being Gene Autry. Now, I'm no country music fan, I prefer hard-rock/metal. But I know who Gene Autry is. Amber Star(my neighbor) said this guitar was a gift from him. Not being name-brand or signed or anything like that, she gave it to me and proceeded to teach me what she and her husband knew. She always told me stories about how the guitar came to her possession and she was pleased to pass it along to me. For years I really didn't care who it came from, I wanted to be Kurt Cobain(minus the suicide : D) or Dimebag Darrel. It wasn't until i was about 20 that I realized the significance, and unfortunately my neighbors are no longer with us.
All in all, it is one of the best guitars I have yet to play.
I don't quite know how to upload pica on here, as soon as I figure it out, I will post one!

I suggest Photobucket for your photos, see the pics thread stickied at the top of each main forum section.

The GL- models are copies of Guild acoustics. We can confirm this once we see some photos. Thanks for sharing!
I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

El Degas stable as of 03/2022: 42  (13 bass, 26 electric, 3 acoustic)
