Spector bass copies

Post by charles »

I have two of them. The black one seems to have slightly more effort put into it (body has a bevel) and is louder acoustically, and is very hard to photograph (the black finish is like a mirror!). The off-white one has a nice sparkly finish and is lighter.

There are several differences between them - note the pickup locations, the aforementioned body bevel on the black one, length of the neck's "tongue" into the body, horn size & shape. The off-white one is about 1/2 - 1 inch shorter overall.

I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

El Degas stable as of 03/2022: 42  (13 bass, 26 electric, 3 acoustic)

Both are very fun for slap. Still tweaking the setup on them - seems the necks are prone to needing a little bit of a shim (on these two, anyway).
