Hummingbird GB21 12-string

Post by Krj »

I thought I would share. This was my father's. It has a great sound and I plan on converting it back to a 12 string. I haven't found any others like it.... Even on your forum.ImageImage

You definitely do not see the 12-string variation often. Very neat! Thanks for sharing - please update us when you get it converted back to 12-string!!
I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

El Degas stable as of 03/2022: 42  (13 bass, 26 electric, 3 acoustic)

The good news is that this has a trapeze tail piece rather than a pin style bridge. That means that the tension from the 12 strings is better distributed all the way to the bottom of the guitar rather than pulling on the bridge plate. That normally causes the top to belly up and wrecks string action. You should not have any worries.

If you're restoring it you might want to replace that adjustable steel bridge with a solid Tusq saddle while you're at it. I just did mine and it really improves the tone and sustain. You can read about it here:viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1802
