Re: saw this ED flying V for sale
Hello,
Stolen is such a harsh word. It was more like a temporary borrowing.
I didn't have my own photos at the time (as I did not have my camera back yet), so I found the first picture of the guitar I could with the intent on putting my pics up as soon as I could.
When I bought this guitar, I was told it was a '77 or '79, but I'm not sure. Either way, its a sweet guitar for being 30 years old! It is missing two knob covers and one switch cover. It has three knobs (2 volumes and tone?) and 2 switches (one is a three-way channel selector, the other is a two-way something... not sure!). One of the knob covers I lost playing at the Scotiabank Place in Ottawa... feel's wrong to replace it right now!
Anyways, pictures have been updated.

I should have said "nabbed"
No offense intended.
I'd probably be clammoring to buy BOTH of the El Degas Flying V's up for sale on the net if I didn't have mine already...

That's what I figgered. Nice guit. Maybe it's got coil splitting?peterframptonrocks wrote:Hello,

Yes, the extra mini toggle is a coil tap (or is it coil split? I get the two confused) for the Dimarzios

Hey Charles,
How do the Dimarzios in this Flying V (assuming they are stock) match up to the stock humbuckers in my Korean El Degas Black Beauty? In terms of raunch etc
cheers

If it's like mine, they are both Dimarzio Super Distortions - very hot pickups that are easy to coax into lots of distortion and fun feedback/harmonics. For my tastes... almost TOO hot. I like a more mellow pup, especially in the neck position. I may replace mine with a set of mellow-er pups (maybe some GFS Alnico IIs or Kent Armstrongs)
For Dimarzios, I prefer to have a SD in the bridge and a PAF in the neck - my tobacco burst LP copy has that and I LOVE it! Nice raunch from the bridge and a singing Neil Young solo tone from the neck...

Re: saw this ED flying V for sale
People should be jumping on BOTH of these Flying Vs currently for sale - they are some of the highest-end El Degas copies (set neck, Dimarzios, good wood) and you'll be hard pressed to find another.
The price is just about right for them (depending on how the lack of hardshell case might affect value in your mind) and I doubt you'll be disappointed. Even if you dislike the Dimarzios, just take them out and sell them on eBay - they are "VINTAGE! RARE! OMG! BUY NOW!"
And if you are afraid of how comfortable they are to play sitting down, just go to youtube and search for jjpistol's videos on flying V's - JJ will set you straight and entertain you at the same time (then go check out his band, The Bricks ATX - they are awesome

Re: saw this ED flying V for sale
I just finished rocking out with my El Degas. I like those raunchy pickups. In a perfect world I'd put 57 Classics in this guitar, and buy this here Flying V and leave it just as it is. I bet it's even raunchier what with the uncovered pckups.
