Further research has demonstrated that my ED Mt 13 is a Martin D-35 copy, with Brazilian rosewood back and sides. It is interesting to note that "Martin ceased using Brazilian rosewood in standard production for complete sets of its backs and sides in 1969." It is my assumption that ED did not follow similar restrictions in the production of their models in 1969, or in the early 70's. Therefore, this leads to further speculation as to what year my MT 13 may have been manufactured in Japan.

The sound my MT 13 produces continues to absolutely amaze me, and I simply can't put the guitar down. The sustain is over the top!

Thanks again for all the help and information.

A pawnshop has a Degas mt-13 acoustic guitar for sale - $174.00 ;very good condition.Does anybody know what the wood/construction is(solid or laminate)? It looks just like the one Commy posted earlier this year 2012.It looks like spruce top, rosewood back/sides with a maple/spruce strip and mahogany neck.Is it a good buy?

If the guitar is in good condition, I think it's probably well worth it. The question is whether it's worth $174 to you!

If it's like Commy's, I'd try to negotiate a little bit (maybe closer to $150?) but grab it definitely!
