My El Degas F-204 Made July 1973
My El Degas F-204 Made July 1973
Hi All, I have an F-204 dreadnought six string acoustic. Does anyone know where this guitar was made? Label language (model is written as 'modelo' and serial no is written 'serie no') suggests somewhere in South American or Spain. Quality is top notch, similar to Japanese lawsuit guitars from same period. Top is definitely solid, and I also think back and perhaps sides are also solid. Steller instrument. Nothing available today in near same league for less than $1,000.
Can you post a photo of the sound hole label?
I'm not sure on the pedigree of the acoustic El Degas guitars - there were Japan, Korea, and even Romanian made El Degas acoustics.
For what it's worth, my Made-in-Korea El Degas Dove-copy also uses the "modelo" and "serie no" verbiage on the label - seems like, as with the name El Degas, the importer was trying to get credibility by using Spanish-sounding verbiage... they did that back then.

I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.
