Hello,
Does anyone know what kind of pick ups would be in my MIJ ED Les Paul Custom Black Beauty?
Thanks

Pick Ups
Re: Pick Ups
Hey there,
I imagine your guitar has regular nickle covered humbuckers, which could be anything. They might have been generic pickups from the factory or made by another manufacturer for the factory that made the guitar body & neck... have you had them out and looked at the back of them for any markings?
My bet is on generic humbuckers, but I could be wrong.

I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

Re: Pick Ups
Charles...
Thanks for the quick response.
I was looking at the pick ups today as I was paying a visit to my luthier. No markings of any sort on the backs. He also assumes generic from the factory.
I am anxious to hear how the guitar is going to sound with the generic humbuckers?

Re: Pick Ups
The stock humbuckers have been alright on most of the ED's I've had - I'd call most of them "vintage, mellow" - 30+ years does good things to pickups, in my opinion. Depends what setup you use and what sound you're after, I guess. It's a very perceptive thing.

Charles; ""vintage, mellow" - 30+ years does good things to pickups." That's exactly what I wanted to read, and can hopefully look forward to experiencing.
Re: Pick Ups
The proof is in the hearing... best of luck! Hope you get a really nice payoff.
