A friend of mine asked if I could help them put an ad up on the internet, I had just recently sold an extra Epiphone I had laying around so I figured it'd be similar - few pictures, throw on some new strings and throw on the guitars full info and you're good. Wow was I about to uncover a pandora's box with this little blue guitar. She's an El Degas. That's it. That's all the information I can get besides a serial number located on the back that reads EDG5MA. I spent the last few hours reading a dozen or so articles on the history of El Degas, and how Korea, Japan, China and even Romania all had a hand in producing these replicas. Can anyone give me any guidance on what type of guitar or what it's replicating? Perhaps where it was made too? I'm pretty lost. Hell even a price estimate would help at this point too.

Help trying to identify this El Degas!
Re: Help trying to identify this El Degas!
This is a later, 1980's, MIK model.
I can't quite tell from the angle of the photos, but this might be one of the ones that copies a Jackson Soloist (which itself was basically a superstrat).
The later 80's MIKs tend to go for about $100-200 depending on condition.
I tried to buy one once, but the seller refused to let me pay for him to ship it to me

I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

Looks like a version of a Kramer Focus, which came in a series of issues 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, etc. Actually reminds me of a 2000, but with the 3000 hardware. I had a blue 1000, with the Floyd and lock nut in the same blue as this, but it only had one pickup. The Kramer Focus series didn't have pickguards. Also, your El Degas has Ricky style fretboard inlays; really a mix of things.
Of course, I don't know much about Ibanez guitars, but they have some shredder styles that are similar, too. There's one on ebay, ending soon, that has similar inlays and a Floyd setup: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ibanez-RG350DX- ... 41635e651b
Kramer and Ibanez always seemed similar to me, and both have so many models that you'd have to do some serious research. Your El Degas looks like Kramer mated with an Ibanez and had that El Degas baby!
That's my best guess.
