El Degas amps

Post by shakin »

There's an El Degas 10w amp for sale in my area. Anyone got any background info on them (manufacturer etc)? It's only $30 so I'll probably get it anyway.

They are from the later MIK (Made in Korea) days, beginner/practice solid state amps. Don't know much more than that, unfortunately.

For $30, why not! :D
I always figured I'd pick one up if I had the chance... never had any for sale in my area. :(
I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

El Degas stable as of 03/2022: 42  (13 bass, 26 electric, 3 acoustic)

For $30 it's likely worth it as a collector's item at least. If it works OK that's a bonus!

Picking it up on Saturday. As you say Barry, a collectors item at the very least (Seller assures me it's in perfect working order) I'm keen to hear what 10w of reverb sounds like!

Assuming it's a solid state amp, I wouldn't hold my breath! Now, if it was a tube amp...

Picked up the beast yesterday. 10w, 8 inch speaker, sounds as good as an old 10w amp would I guess. Distortion effect not much and reverb has that "playing in the bathroom" sound (not too bad really). Made in Korea as you suggested Charles. Nice addition to the music room if only for appearences.

Gotta love the "porcelain amphitheater" sound
