sg knockoff?
sg knockoff?
I recently came across an sg styled el degas. Serial # KPP-0204. 2nd sticker says made in japan 761. Anyone got any info on this thing or an idea where I can get some info. Mat_devries @ hotmail .com is my email

That's a fairly standard model El Degas made throughout its lifespan - Gibson and Fender copies are most common. I'd assume it's got a bolt on neck.
I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

Have search through the forum here and you'll likely see one or two examples. Generally speaking the MIJ models were quite good.

My set-neck Korean made SG '61 copy is quite excellent, as well.
(though at some point the previous owner may have had neck stability issues and reinforced it with a neckplate)
