El Degas MT7

Post by thornbush »

What can I say....these MT7 guitars are like the worken mans tool.....dependable, solid, built to play hard and they have the sweetest sound with nice low easy action....love them. This is the second one I've found...the other was my first El Degas purchase and the reason I started collecting them...It's next. But this one I found last year...a couple of tuners have the nobs broken off so I use plyers untill I can find some originals to match....except for that they work fine....the rest of the guitar is perfect. I prit near stole this one...,..seller beware.....

If anyone knows where I can find a couple of matching tuners I'd love to hear from you.

Love that top! Beauty.

Sorry, don't know where to find those tuners.
I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

El Degas stable as of 03/2022: 42  (13 bass, 26 electric, 3 acoustic)

A beautiful mahogany!
Those knobs are a fairly common type and my guess is that you might find a couple in the junk box of any guitar shop's workbench. Certainly finding a knob should be easier than finding replacement tuners.

However, I'd caution against using pliers on the shafts. You'll end up shredding the metal and in the end the replacement knobs may not fit properly.

Unfortunatly the post were already stripped so pliers can't do anymore damage...but I think I've found a fix....I'll post picks of the process.....
