Machine Heads

Post by Buzzy »

Hello El Degas forumers.

I am new to the forum and look forward to learning a ton. I recently received a Japaneese made early 70s El Degas bass; It looks a lot like a p-bass. I have seen other photos of them around. It is Ivory in color and has the string and bridge guards as well as a thumb rest. The thing I am desperately looking for to complete the guitar is an original machine head. The one that was on there broke and I would love to find a replacement. The remaining original ones (i think they are original, there are no other holes drilled or old ones filled in) are kind of a dull finish but the peg itself is chromed. I also have a question about whether or not the V & T pots are original. If anyone has any photos of a complete original, I would love to use them as a comparison. Thanks everyone.

Can you post a photo of your bass, so I can see if I have the same model? Thanks. Use imgur or Photobucket to host the photo and post IMG links here (see http://www.eldegas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=48 for tips)
I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

El Degas stable as of 03/2022: 42  (13 bass, 26 electric, 3 acoustic)
