Very Vintage El Degas fender P-Bass Copy (CANADA)

Post by Robozarm »

Will sell for 290$ Including Case and Shipping

El Degas, Precision Bass Copy
Bought 1970
standard passive pickups, all knobs and metal pieces are fully functional.
There is no rust at all, a bit of paint scratches, and is in perfect condition.
Has quite the nice tone, too.
It has an ebony color, its quite light in the pictures.
All pickup covers are clear of scratches.
One string is snapped, can be easily be replaced.
There is ever so slight neck bend, can be easily fixed with a truss rod adjustment.
All original parts and pieces.
Here are some pictures:

More like Ivory, eh.
Very nice condition though.

These are tough to gauge - sometimes there are a glut of these on the market. Back in the day (2008 or so) I could buy these all day for $150 shipped, but now they seem to be listed in the $200-400 range. It looks like yours is in really great condition and having all the original parts and case is a plus.
I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

El Degas stable as of 03/2022: 42  (13 bass, 26 electric, 3 acoustic)

Thanks!
Well, I would gladly sell it for 280$ at that price range
And sorry about the color mix up- I always get Ebony and Ivory mixed up.

Any Idea where I should sell it, other than here?

This forum is likely to reach the hard core el Degas fans, but you can always try Kijiji and Craigslist which are free to list, or of course eBay (which ain't cheap to use for something in this price range). You'll reach a wider audience through any of these sites but not too likely you'll find as many who are as appreciative as we are.

I still have a 1978 fender Pre Bass the same colour. I bought it brand new.Been playing since 1965 and had many "gits" during that time. I have an acoustic GL31 El degas, and by what I have seen over the years they make a underrated guitar. Put it out there for 500bucks and see what you get. By the pictures it look as if it was off the assy line. If the neck and set up are good you should be able to sell it. The Fender Squires and Fender off shore models are crap in my mind.Only my opinion and I would never buy one. With the El Degas some workmanship and pride went into them.
