Re: MY EL DEGAS GUITAR
Looks very similar to the Aria Pro 11 CS series...if made in Japan could it be another link to Matsumoku?

Re: Black Trans-Finish MIJ Strat (CAN)
I have one identical to this, although the gold finish is a little more worn. Nowhere does it say MIJ, so I've assumed it was MIK circa late 80's. Not a bad player, nice neck and only $70!

Re: El Degas Electric, Unknown type, raises questions.
Looks like an Ibanez Artist copy, all the ones I've seen have been made in Japan (Should have something on the neckplate to identify origin, if nothing probably Korean)
Value is a bit tricky, you will determine it by how much you're prepared to pay.

Re: Korean El Degas Stratocaster (1990s?)
I've had this Strat for a while, always thought it to be late 80's MIK.
Note the subtle differences:
-rounded fretboard end
-"metal" style headstock compared to late 60's Teisco/Kawai style
Mine has almost stainlike paint job on the body (grain is visible) with the more glossy, solid effect on the ...

Re: new Tele in the stable
Haven't played a REAL tele, but in the short time I've had the ED version I'd say it's coming in behind my Vantage VS-650 and Epi LP as far as action goes ( but that may change after I "tinker " with it). A very good sustain and variety of tones.

new Tele in the stable
Found this MIJ Tele copy on the local Kijiji. . Probably paid over the odds but they don't come up very often in my neck of the woods. A little battered around the edges and will need a bit of tlc but sounds pretty good.

Re: El Degas amps
Picked up the beast yesterday. 10w, 8 inch speaker, sounds as good as an old 10w amp would I guess. Distortion effect not much and reverb has that "playing in the bathroom" sound (not too bad really). Made in Korea as you suggested Charles. Nice addition to the music room if only for appearences.

Re: El Degas amps
Picking it up on Saturday. As you say Barry, a collectors item at the very least (Seller assures me it's in perfect working order) I'm keen to hear what 10w of reverb sounds like!

El Degas amps
There's an El Degas 10w amp for sale in my area. Anyone got any background info on them (manufacturer etc)? It's only $30 so I'll probably get it anyway.

Good piece of philosophy Charles, I have applied that to women as well in the past (with limited success!)

Re: El Degas Timeline
Thanks for that Charles. It's such a pity that B&J, after going to all the trouble of negotiating the production of such a wide range , couldn't keep track of it all either by themselves or from the manufacturer. Serial numbers seem to be such a rudimentary stock tracking system that it's surprising ...

El Degas Timeline
I realise that there's a lot of discussion about when and where the El Degas brand appeared in the marketplace, but has anyone determined a more exact timeline? Not the exact time and day mind you but say , the year they were first landed on the shelves, when production shifted to Korea and other ...

Re: GB 22 Circa 1975
So I've been playing it for a couple of weeks now. Lowered the action a wee bit, nothing much else to do . Sounds ok, not a POS but certainly not as good a sound as my MIC Fender. I'll be changing the strings shortly so we'll see if that makes any difference.

Re: GB 22 Circa 1975
Picked one of these today, identical except for truss rod cover (bell shaped as opposed to "A" shape). Good sound so far, I'll play it a while longer before I decide on whether I want to change the action.

Just put it on flea bay then, and hope for the best. You'll get what the market expects to pay ( and put up some pics as well)
