Re: El Degas Identification

Sadly, some previous owner of my L6-S copy replaced the selector knob with a 3-way toggle. I've always meant to have the electronics put back the way it was supposed to be but time has a way of getting away on me. Your chicken-head knob looks accurate. The fretboard of these does seem to be more rad...

Re: El Degas Identification

I've never confirmed whether the 6-way pickup selector knob works the same on these as the original Gibson, but here is what they do on the original, from 1-6: Both pickups, in series Neck pickup, alone Both pickups, in parallel Both pickups, parallel out of phase, with the neck pickup's bass respon...

Re: El Degas Identification

That's a copy of the GIbson L6-S! I have one as well. It's an oddity of the time, when Gibson Norlin was trying out some very unconventional designs with their model line. I always found it kind of funny that the El Degas brand bothered to copy the L6-S and Marauder when they were (reportedly) prett...

Re: El Degas Dove GB25 400?

These guitars are old enough that assigning a standard value to them is quite difficult. They are all in the region of 30-50 years old so the condition and playability of them is going to cause a large swing in the price they should command. You'll likely want to get your hands on it to see how it p...

Re: El Degas Electric, Unknown type, raises questions.

I have that guitar! purchased new in January, 1983 with a warranty card, labelled as model 880 (i didnt find any serial number. it has a brass nut, dual humbucking dimarzio pickups, and identical electronics to your photo. I've been searching for info on this model but couldnt find anything. I'd be...

Re: El Degas, black Les Paul....any additional info?

Value is actually getting harder and harder to call. As these guitars get older and older, it really depends on the playable condition of the guitar and whether there's a motivated buyer that wants to pay what you're asking. The fact that this is a MIK model definitely will drop the value somewhat v...

Re: El Degas, black Les Paul....any additional info?

imgur is a-ok! Whatever works. I see from your photos that the logo inlay was removed, (somewhat-poorly) filled, then the headstock repainted. From the shape of the filled inlay, it appears to have been a later (believed to be 80's) MIK model. The other signs that lead me to this conclusion is the m...

Re: Second hand El degas model ?

That's one of the later Classical models. Model numbers for those ones made later in Korea/Romania/Guatemala generally start with "CL-". I'm not able to give you the exact model #.

Re: Mt9 eldegas

That's not much to go on. Photos may help, but note that not a lot of info on this brand survived its lifespan so some of what I can offer is best/educated guesses. MT- models are copies of Martin acoustics. If I can see clear photos of the headstock, sound hole label, and guitar front & back, I mig...

Re: The Latest

Thanks for checking in! I hope you are doing well. In my time I've probably owned about 50-60 different El Degas instruments, and I now have it whittled down to about 35 (and really ought to whittle it down further) - I also sold as many of them that I could that did just not feel right to me no mat...

Re: New Acquisition El Degas GB84

Hi padaman, I recommend also listing the guitar on your local Kijiji - there are some people who like this brand that regularly check there for listings. (Traffic here on the forum is not huge)

Re: El Dégas Solid Body Electric Info Needed

That's a copy of a Rickenbacker 325. I am unsure whether that's a Japanese made guitar or a later Korean made one (there may be a small decal on the back of the guitar body or headstock that says where it was made). It is generally believed that the Japanese models were manufactured in the 70's, and...

Re: ElDegas MT7

I was really glad to see some posts pop up from you today Barry! Hope you're well.

Good tip on the image viewing. You can also do a similar thing on Chrome: open the image viewer in Kijiji, right click the image, and select "Open image in new tab".

Re: ElDegas MT7

Ah, I see the listing now. That's a Korean model (if you squint you can see it on the sound hole label). So, this will have none of the rosewood you normally see on the sides & back of the MIJ models (as you've noted Barry it appears to be all mahogany), and as you can see it has dots vs. the more e...

Re: ElDegas MT7

Just had a gander at Kijiji and if you are referring to the MT7 in Halifax I'm thinking it may be mainly mahogany - you could be right about the top being a stained spruce, potentially? I have to admit it's very hard to tell these things with small photos on Kijiji.
